This is for drinks only and no food will be available.

Step back in time here at The White Horse,
a grade two listed historic bar in the heart of the city dating back to the 16th century.
Famous for various filming over the years of Inspector Morse, Lewis and Endeavour.

Oxford Murders a film producted by Alex de la Iglesia
staring Elijah Wood and the late John Hurt recorded a scene here in the bar.
More recently Discovery of Witches historic fantasy novel by Deborah Harkness
staring Matthew Goode Teresa Palmer, Edward Bluemel and Aiysha Hart to name but a few.
Our story continues with a fire breaking out in the kitchen on the first floor
where a "Witches broom" was uncovered hidden in the wall.
No one would touch this broom for fear of superstition, so it was left there and boarded up
and it remains there to this day.

We are often asked if the pub is haunted and we have to respond that if it is then we do have a happy ghost.  Maybe the happy atmosphere has something to do with the White Horse ale we serve.  Perhaps you can come and try.
